What is
SkillBridge?
The DoW SkillBridge Program connects transitioning service members with approved industry partners where they can gain meaningful, real-world civilian work experience before completing their military service.
Eligible service members may participate in industry training, apprenticeships, internships, and other work-based learning opportunities during their final 180 days of service with the approval of their chain of command. During participation, service members continue receiving their military compensation and benefits while gaining hands-on experience with an approved industry provider.
SkillBridge helps bridge the gap between military service and civilian employment by giving service members an opportunity to explore a new industry, develop additional skills, and prepare for the next stage of their careers.

Partnering With Those Who Served to Build Fulfilling Careers in High-End Residential Construction
Residential construction requires leadership, problem-solving, communication, attention to detail, accountability, and the ability to work as part of a team—qualities that many service members have developed throughout their military careers.
Through our participation in SkillBridge, Livingston Homes provides an opportunity to experience the residential construction industry firsthand and learn how a custom home moves from initial planning through project management and construction.
Participants can gain exposure to areas such as:
- Residential construction and building processes
- Project management and scheduling
- Business development
- Jobsite coordination and communication
- Construction systems and operations
- Working with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients
- The standards and craftsmanship behind custom residential construction
Our goal is to provide meaningful experience that service members can carry with them as they transition into civilian careers.
